Kevin "Sonny" Gullage

Born into a musical family, Gullage showed prodigious signs of talent at an early age. He began playing guitar before turning his focus to piano and was influenced by his interactions growing up around many artists. Sonny’s father, bassist Tony Gullage, performed with Henry Butler, Dr. John, and other prominent musicians in the Crescent City, while his grandmother, Sister Alberta Gullage, released gospel records for the Wajo label in the mid-1960s. Sonny’s family surname was originally Ledbetter, and he is also believed to be a relative of seminal blues/folk legend, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter.

Rock & Blues Muse proclaims Gullage is “a legitimate musical phenomenon with a huge career in front of him.” After honing his potent sound as a resident artist at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New Orleans, at the age of 20, Sonny’s career exploded. He has captivated live audiences in the U.S., Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Brussels, Slovenia, Croatia, and elsewhere, and drew more national attention during his 2022 appearances on ABC’s American Idol. Gullage, an official Hammond artist/endorser, has also appeared in movies including The Last Laugh starring Chevy Chase, and Burning Cane starring Wendell Pierce.
